What's a Chart of Accounts?

Daylon's thoughts on the questions Mom sent him this week:

1. Do you feel like you're getting to know El Presidente a little better?
Being the financial secretary has allowed me to work more closely with Pdte because of how often I need his approval on things and when we go over the monthly budget report.

2. Did you ever get to go to the temple after you emailed me about a name a few weeks ago? It's hard for me to understand why missionaries with a temple nearby don't go once a month as a matter of course. If you have any insight on that, let me know.
We still haven't gone to the Temple and I don't think we will any time soon. Even though the Temple is close, it is outside mission boundaries and the Area Presidency has asked us to limit trips outside the mission's boundaries to only the necessary. I'll get to go the last week of my mission, but going before then is most likely out of the question.

3. How would you define humility? I gave my new MiaMaid presidency the assignment to study this topic and I'd love your thoughts too.
Humility is understanding that there are more important things than being correct. From Pres. Monson, "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved." Humility is also closely related to love. If I love my younger sister I'm going to listen to what she has to say and not ignore her just because I'm the older brother. Study Preach My Gospel, Chapter 6 - there is a section titled "Humility" and another titled "Patience" that go hand-in-hand :)

(re: Dad trying to find a bunch of current events articles for Trevin)  Haha I feel like Dad may be doing more high school homework now than he did when he was in school! But now I think I can manipulate Google almost as good as he does, so hopefully it won't carry over into college hahaha.

We had a mini audit this week. It went well and I learned a lot, so hopefully we can correct the mistakes and get back out of the red on our budget. Mostly it's just a matter of making sure things get charged to the right accounts.

***WARNING: This next part may be boring. I won't feel bad if you skip it***

There are a few types of accounts we use as a mission. The 000 account is the Administration account. It's used for things like Pdte's travels and supplies for the mission home and office. This account has a budget. The 400 account is the missionary expenses account. Things like the monthly allotment and housing expenses and repairs go here. This account does not have a budget. Some things were being charged to the 000 account when they should have been charged to the 400 account. I can't give you an exact number as to how much this affected our budget because I'm still looking at the numbers.

***END OF BORING***

And I don't think anything else exciting has happened this week....nope.

They Say It's My Birthday!

Happy birthday to me :D Definitely made my own birthday cake (thanks grandma!), but it's cooling so I'll eat it tonight :P

(Re: the bday video we sent him) Definitely had to pause it for like 5 minutes on a few of the pics to remember who they are, but Melissa by far took me the longest to figure out (but I did get it all by myself :D).

I would love Mr. Ross's email!!

(Re: Mom broke the news that Daylon will have to re-take his math placement test for college when he gets home) Yeah, when Elder B told me that I did laugh, but then I got on the MCC website and looked up some practice questions...what I want to say is that I'm really out of practice :/)

About classes, my preferred order is:
1 - CIS 162
2 - ENG 102 (if I can't get out of it)
2 - ECN 212 (if I can get out of English)
3 - Psych 132
4 - ECN 212 (If I have to take English)
5 - Math
6 - CIS 250
7 - REL 243
8 - ECN 211

There's going to be new pics later today, we're gonna go play soccer right now and again at 4, so I'll get 'em up sometime.

Questions from Mom:
1 - (Who is your new comp?) Elder McA., Iowa, 21, wants to go military, job in the office is reference secretary
2 - (where do you live?) three bed/two bath apt, our porch looks into the backyard of the house outside the complex (not the best view...) view out the front door is the staircase (we live on the second floor). the apt diagonally beneath us live the others in the office.
3 - (any bday celebrations?) We went to PF Chang's on Thursday, had lunch with Pdte yesterday and tomorrow we´re going to his house to celebrate Hna Barreiros' Bday (the 17th, which reminds me, happy early birthday Connie!) and all of that with all of us in the office.

English? What's That?

We're going to Tony Romo's for lunch today with Elder B. Sister B is back in the States this weekend and she doesn't like that restaurant so we decided to take advantage haha :)

I don't remember if I wrote this already, but a few weeks ago when we had the nuevos coming in from the CCM I had to give a finance presentation in English. There were two Sister Training Leaders there who are both Latins (Hna B y Hna V) and they both spoke better English than I did....it was kinda super stressful for me....I don't think I'm going to enjoy having to speak English all the time again after the mission....like, seriously....Hna Barreiros (the Mission President's wife) asked the Sisters to give me English lessons!! It was the worst.... :P

Anyway....yeah...not much has happened this week...I've been playing with excel a bit to keep all the info organized. I might send that to Dad so you can take a look at it.

Uhhh....soooo...that's all I can think of to say. I'll write you all next week ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! I don't know why I'm so excited though, I've never enjoyed my birthday. Parties are always awkward for me :P

Anywho, love you all!

At Burger King with Elder B!

Apparently he never removes his coat and hat. Style or warmth?

No Longer Single

Well, so much for enjoying the single life. Last week Pdte told me he wouldn't call a new reference secretary nor give me a companion. He did both on Monday. Not that it's a bad thing; we'll have time to go out to the sector now and I don't have to bother Elder B to go stand in bank lines with me haha. And that should nullify three of your questions :)

As for the others,

4 - I did get Cocoa's package a few months ago! I could have sworn I wrote it in that week's email, but maybe I just wrote it in my journal (oooohhhh....I need to start writing in that again!)

5 - Alyza has a package that should be arriving this week (a partir de lunes) and it is stuffed full of wonderful Chilean candy :)

Question: Do we have bon bon chocolates in the States? I'll get a picture up later. Those and Super 8 are my favorites and I really don't want to loose them when I go home! Maybe I can get them on Amazon....?

We're actually leaving in about an hour to go have lunch with Lythgoe and his parents at Johnny Rocket's :D

Beside that, not much has happened....I'm a boring person....oh! I didn't remember how to do rent, so we'll find out if everyone has their money next week. If not, well, pray for me.....

Lots of love,
