An Early Night for New Year's Eve

Seeing as we have to be in our houses by 8pm today and yeasterday we had the Changes Meeting for most of the day in Maipú, President told us to work yesterday and take today as our Pday. So, sorry for the day-late letter, but that´s why :)

Today I bought blueberries, strawberries and bananas and put them in the freezer to make juices (is that how you spell it?) with them. Bagels are incredibly hard to find, and super expensive here :/ And Cream Cheese, sadly, doesn´t exist :/ But I will try the breakfast burritos! :) And if my punishment is drinking that nasty drink that could be considered cruel and unusual punishment, well, I am now officially on an "eat everything in sight" diet :D  (mom told Daylon that if he doesn't start eating more she will put him on protein shakes when he gets home)

To all the kids: Good luck in your sporting adventures this year! I will be praying for each one of you to be successful :) (p.s. you should let me know when there are more videos of Trev playing cuz I love watching them)

So, like I mentioned above, we have to be in the house at 8pm. Living in an apartment building, being on the roof still counts. However, at midnight, everyone gives hugs and champagne....so E` Sanchez and I will be sitting in our apartment, looking out a window that faces the opposite direction of the fireworks, and, in all honesty, probably sleeping by 10pm :P Happy New Year! Hahahaha

Lots of love,
- Elder Daylon Crider
p.s. There are new photos :)

Elder Crider's Christmas Poem

written 11/25/13

In one month more
It's Christmas Day,
But as a missionary oh so poor,
We'll decorate in our own way.

No luminous tree will grace the room
And more than one present each? If that!
In place of a tree, we'll use a broom,
And where a star should be, we'll put a hat.

A few days before the big day,
With other missionaries we'll meet
As a makeshift family to say:
"Merry Christmas! Let's eat!"

Christmas, however, should not be
About what we get or spend,
But should be passed with family,
And setting a memorable trend.

So as my gift to you,
I give you this:
The Book of Mormon is true,
And to all, a hug and a kiss.

(Luckily he got a few decorations in the mail a week or so after he wrote this and didn't have t use the broom after all, haha)

All is Well

WHAT??? There`s a picture of Dad!?!?!?! I didn`t think it was possible to snap a photo of even the shadow of such an ellusive creature!! Hahahaha, Love you Dad! (from Mom: yes, this week's email from me included a photo of Dad. I had no idea he'd be so excited!)

Aaanyway, I sure am glad I`m sitting down here in the Southern Hemisphere, nice and warm (about 85-90º), drinking banana milk and walking around in a short-sleeved shirt :) Not to rub it in or anything ;) haha
Sorry to hear that everyone is so sick! Hopefully you can get over it to at least enjoy the Christmas activities :) ANNA - be greatful for teachers like that! I can promise you that as you move up, you`ll find less and less teachers willing to make exceptions. Then again, you are following in my footsteps, so just as long as Trevin doesn`t ruin my reputation, you`ll be fine as long as you do your best :) (from Mom: Annalyn missed almost the whole week of finals due to illness, and 2 of her teachers waived the exam and did not require her to make them up)

Mom, I hope you don`t mind, but I translated the Parabol (how do you even spell that in English??) of the Heavy Pack and that`s my gift to the families here for Christmas. I know it`ll touch perfectly at least one or two, so thank you in advance for sending me that :) I`ve found that when I come home at night, time permitting, I like to sit down and throw a few thoughts on paper. Usually I just keep them for myself, but when I hit a good note I`ll be sure to send it home :) (from Mom: I wrote the Parable of the Heavy Pack for Daylon's birthday, and it is posted below in a separate post if you want to read it)

Tell Dad that his example of (sometimes literally) getting up the next day and fighting the bull one more time (does that even make sense in English? It`s a phrase from Spain) is sometimes the sole reason I get up in the mornings.

MOM!! Before I forget - I need some new breakfast ideas. After almost a year of switching between eggs and cereal, I hope never to have those for breakfast again :P Although, the ironic part is that I bought a new box of cereal not two hours ago...go figure!

Congrats to Connie and the family. That makes, what? 4 kids now? 3? (from Mom: 4 beautiful children)

Hahaha, I like your idea for annual speech! You know, the next time I`m there for one of those, I`ll be married and be giving my own speech! How weird does that sound?? Hahaha (from Mom: we had our extended family party with the Crider side last night, and I told Daylon that I made up a fake story about how Jay was taking up clogging, etc)

Elder Thomas Sanchez (from Colombia) can speak and understand English, but at a 1st grader`s level. But I need to practice my English, so I`ll be glad to translate :)  (this is Daylon's companion that has no family writing to him on his mission - you can write to him at dearelder.com. The mission to select is Chile Santiago West)

Love you all,
- Elder Daylon Crider

The Parable of the Heavy Pack

My birthday gift to Daylon this year included this story that I wrote for him:

Once upon a time there was a young man who served a wise and kind Master. Although the young man worked hard in the house of his Master, he was given everything he needed to be comfortable, and he was very happy.
One day the Master called the young man to him and gave him an important errand. The young man was to deliver some items to a neighboring kingdom. The Master laid a pack on the young man’s back and began to fill it. As the pack became heavy, the young man asked, “Could I not have a donkey to carry this heavy load?”
                The Master said no.
The young man was disheartened as his pack continued to grow heavier and heavier. “May I not have a companion to shoulder half the load, sir?” he cried.
The Master seemed to have kindness in his eyes, but he again said no. It seemed that the young man would have to shoulder this burden alone.
At length the young man was left by himself with his heavy pack, and he had no choice but to start out on the road to the neighboring kingdom. As he walked, his shoulders soon grew sore and his feet grew weary, and he began to wonder if he had misread his Master all these years, for this errand seemed nothing but cruel. Why could a donkey not be provided?!  Certainly there was no good reason the young man could not have some help with this burden, and the unfairness of it all threatened to overwhelm his heart with bitterness.
As he plodded along, his back bent further and further under the weight of his pack. Soon he was doubled over and could see nothing but his sandaled feet and the dirt road beneath them. His discouragement grew, and hot tears streaked down his cheeks. His back and shoulders burned with searing pain, and relief seemed many miles down the road. Surely he could not endure.
In his despair, the young man remembered some simple advice he had once heard, “It is better to look up.”
The young man could not do much in his circumstances, but he decided he could do this. With great effort, he craned his neck under his burden so that he could look up and at least enjoy the sun and clouds above him while he walked. But when his eyes lifted, he was greeted by a shocking sight. The road he was plodding down had led him into a wilderness area, and instead of the beautiful clouds and sunshine he was expecting, he found he was surrounded by black and barren trees. Not a single leaf graced the trees. Instead, they were full of dead branches that stuck out in sharp points above his hunched back. Hideous, demonic  birds were flying around, screeching, and when they saw the young man’s eyes they flew straight for them, determined, it seemed, to peck them right out of his head.
The young man gasped and quickly turned his head back down to the dirt. He wondered how he had been walking through this terrible place without fear, when he realized it was his pack. That heavy, heavy pack that had seemed such a burden to him was actually keeping him safe. By keeping his back bent low under the weight, the young man had avoided all the sharp branches and pointy beaks of this dangerous area.
With sudden insight, he realized that his Master was, indeed, kind and wise. Had he given the young man the donkey he begged for, he would have walked this road with his back upright, and would likely have lost an eye on this journey, or worse.  The young man realized with quiet awe that His Master knew this road, and loved him enough to keep him safe.

The young man continued his walk, but now his step was lighter, for he carried in his heart a deep gratitude for the pack on his back that he had once considered a burden.

Let's all write to Elder S!

First off, mom - sorry, but Elder R sent your birthday letter last Tuesday :/ Just know it`s in the mail and I still love you!! Sorry!  (from Mom - that's so funny because I actually did get a letter from Daylon just a day or two after my birthday, but it was really short and didn't say happy birthday, and I thought it was a really lame bday letter, haha!)

Second - have I already sent something home entitled "The Weeping Man"?

E´ S (my comp) is a recent convert (a year and a half ago) and he`s not planning on Skyping with anyone for Christmas. That makes me incredibly sad (his mom was assasinated when he was 4 and he doesn`t know where his dad is so he grew up with his grandparents, but even though they support his choice to go on a mission, they aren`t making it a priority to talk to him).

The Church had just bought that property before I left, so I did know something about the new building. I`m surprised it`s up and running so fast! Less than a year!  (a new ward bldg in the neighborhood)

Speaking of the Gilbert Temple Open House...I`ve heard the Mesa Temple was going to close for a bit when Gilbert opens for some gutting and heavy reconstruction. Is that true? And if so, will the Mesa Temple be up and running by the time I get home??

I`m sure that Trevin will be starting for Mtn View. And he`s going to take them to State at the end of his Senior year where I`ll be sitting with front row seats. At least, that`s what I`m planning on!

All is well here in Chile. It`s getting more difficult to find and teach people because everyone is going "home for the holidays" which, in this area, means going back to Peru or Bolivia or some other foreign country :P

Lots of Love,
- Elder Daylon Crider
Who wouldn't want to Skype with that kid?!

Thoughts from the Liahona

A bit of news - Elder J. has changes today. Pres called Saturday night to tell him he`s going to the coast as a ZL, BUT he said he still hadn`t made a decision about a new DL here. So we`ll see what happens there.
Story behind the couch - the wall.

hahahaha, sorry, that was pretty lame :P But what happened with the couch is that a family was repainting their living room and the wife likes to buy all new furniture when they repaint a room, so they gave it to us :) There`s also two big chairs that match the couch, but I didn`t take pictures of that.

SO, I was reading in this month`s Liahona (the international version of the Ensign) and noticed a very big theme: The 2nd Coming. And they just released a new pamphlet called "My Family" about family history work. And with all the missionaries going out....this isn`t doctrine by any means, but based on what I know and from talking with other Elders, I put the Second Coming as happening as soon as 50 years, but before 100 years have passed. Just my personal thoughts on the matter.

I love you and pray for you all everyday,
- Elder Daylon Crider

Not a whole lot to eat for breakfast today...

Except a whole lot of candy!!

Must be December, Mom's 2 days late posting this :)

So, I got a lot of packages last week (but (and sadly not surprising) Tricia´s still hasn´t come. Mail does come on Wednesday, though!) from:

Gpa/Gma/Kristin - A Halloween package (the Chilean mail system still appears to be catching up haha) and a wonderful little Christmas tree with two yet unopened gifts :) (But the letter kind of said it was my pj´s haha) My Colombian comps helped me set it up and everything :)

Mom - Hahahaha, two things about your package: 1) Oranges don´t ship well. I could only tell it was an orange because your letter said there was two. It was a weird fuzzy green, but surprisingly didn´t smell too bad. And 2) The Chileans robbed us of my USB drive. The package had postal tape on it, so it was obviously opened, and we still haven´t found the USB. But I went and picked up a 16GB from Kingston (my prefered brand) for only $16, which is a great deal in Chile!

Jenny - Don´t worry, your package got here safely :)

WHAT?!?! I have a letter coming from Trevin?? Is it the Second Coming???? hahahaha

So, mom asked " what would you say have been the best blessings or gifts your mission has given you so far? " Well....

Over this past year, I´ve learned many things about myself and the Gospel. But of all the things I want to share, I think the most important thing I´ve learned is found in Alma 7:11-12. Jesus Christ has suffered literally EVERYTHING and who would be more able to give us the help we need than someone who has "been there, done that" and knows what He wanted and needed in that moment and is able to give the necessary help to us. Also, the Atonement is real; Repentance works; Forgiveness is possible; And God knows and loves us personally and by name. He is at our side waiting to help us if we will but turn to Him and ask. "Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you."; "In all thy ways acknolegde Him and He shall direct thy paths."
Turning your life 100% over to God is not by any means an easy task. But when your heart is as determined as your mind to be obedient and serve God, then and only then will you experience a portion of the peace and joy that we can have in the Celestial Kingdom. And it is worth every sacrifice.

Love you all,
- Elder Daylon Crider

Was it Thanksgiving Last Week?

First thing first, an awesome scripture I read this week! Alma 39:11, more specifically the last phrase (I don´t remember exactly what it says, sorry). Alma here is reprimanding his son Coriántun (I don´t remember what it is in English haha) and in this particular verse is talking about the bad example he set. The people don´t want to listen to Alma because of the bad example Coriántun set. So...does your example help people come closer to the gospel, or drive them away? Do we have the Spirit of God shining brightly within us enough to make people want to learn why we are so happy? I sent a letter out today for Christmas that has a bit to do with all this :)

Anyway, if my comp lets me use his computer for a bit, there´ll be new videos and pictures (about 20, if I counted right) so let´s hope and pray :)  (Nope, we only got 2 - he said he ran out of time and will try to post more next week)

Sorry I didn´t write much about E´ Holland last week. We just didn´t have enough time. But you should all realize that it´s me. I´ve never been good about giving details :P Ummm.....I dunno. He spoke a lot about staying active after we get home...umm...I didn´t take many notes (besides the fact that I don´t have them right here) because I was so entrapped in what he was saying. If I remember I´ll bring my journal next week and write a few more specifics.

We haven´t had mail for the past 3 weeks, but we should get it on Wednesday, so next week I´ll probably have a big list of thank-yous :)

Oh....this past Thursday was Thanksgiving? (he's so confused) Mish, no me di cuenta. I don´t really feel like I´m missing holidays or football season because down here it´s about 90-95 degrees. Granted, there is a nice breeze and it´s not like the ones in AZ where it´s like opening an oven :P

Companions:
Elder S.  - 23, Colombia, he was baptized a year and a half ago, but he´s super cool. (He´s the darker one in the photos if I got them put up)

Elder J. - 20, Colombia, he was baptized at 13 and right now is the DL

Pres. Barreiros told him the other day to prepare me well because on the 19th, when he has changes (there´s a few missionaries who extended their missions, but Pres is sending them home a bit early so they can have Christmas at home and J. is going to replace one of them), Pres is going to make me DL! I´m scared out of my gringo skin to be DL, but if it´s what the Lord wants, who am I to rebel?

Hopefully I got the videos and pics up for you :) If I have time, I´ll make a short video for each of you for Christmas, but no matter when I put them online, NO ONE is allowed to see them until CHRISTMAS DAY :)

Lots of love,
- Elder Daylon Crider

Back in the City

..........................................After a loooooooong almost 6 months, I finally left La Isla de Maipo! As I was saying my goodbyes, a lot more members cried than I thought would. It made me understand how important missionaries are not only to the investigators, but to the members also when Hna Loyola said "Gracias por su ejemplo" y su esposo me dijo "Estoy agradecido por haberle conocido y ojalá que puede seguir ayudando a las personas como había hecho conmigo y mi familia". It made me feel important :)
(translation: Thank you for your example. And her husband said, "I am grateful to have known you and hopefully we can continue helping people as you have done to me and my family ")
And now I have the opportunity to be back in the city where life is a little more upbeat. Speaking of which, the computers in the city are sometimes super chanta (including today) so I can´t put on any of the pictures or videos I have :/

I´m in the Zone República, but as to my actual sector within that Zone....no idea :P haha, oh and sorry to break it to you now, but instead of it just being me and my companion, we´re a trio.....I´m not the biggest fan of being in a trio....

About Elder Holland: We laughed, he cried, everyone had a good time :) Oh, and after about 20 minutes of yelling at us and threatening to put pepper in our empanadas, I´m definitely going to make sure all the friends I make in the mission stay active after they return home (funny side note: they had to call maintanence to build a new pulpit because Elder Holland broke it from hitting it so hard!! That how much he hates inactive RMs)

I sent a birthday letter to dad last week and hopefully Elder R will send the bday letter to you and the package I asked him to send for me. I didn´t want to carry all the stuff I want to send home to a new sector just for one day :P

Hopefully all goes well this week :)

Love,
- Elder Daylon Crider

Teaching, but not English

For the first time in 5 months we challenged someone to be baptized!!! Actually, two people, Norma and Carolina!! They were both touched by the Plan of Salvation because 8 years ago they lost their mom and they still haven`t found peace. Please pray for them!! Unfortunately I`m pretty sure I`m getting changes, but their fecha is por el 21 de Diciembre. ¡Ojalá que lo lograrán! ............sorry! Like I said a few weeks ago, when I get excited it`s just easier to talk in Spanish. Hahaha, funny story actually, I had to stop giving English Classes because it`s just too hard for me now :P I don`t speak English! And when I do, to help my comp learn, my tongue feels really wierd and after about 15 minutes of English my head hurts, just like it did when I was learning Spanish hahaha. I`m definitely NOT looking forward to having to speak English when we Skype at Christmas, sorry!

Congradulations on finishing the Book of Mormon!! It only took about 2 and a half years, but hey! We did it! :D (this was our family scripture study he's talking about. We were so proud we finally finished that we sent Daylon a video of us reading the last verse together). And those are some pretty impressive looking plates, mom! (Rice Krispie treats made out to look like the Golden Plates) I`ll try to send a video home next week so Alyza can see Dayday again ;) haha

Alyza!! Why are you such a big girl!! You aren`t allowed to grow up!! Actually that goes for all three girls! Your my little sisters! Emphasis on the LITTLE!! Crazy girls....thinking they can just grow up...tsk tsk tsk...

Haha, yes a flahdrive is the same as a pendrive. They say pendrive down here so I completely forgot what it`s called back home, sorry :P And the 16 will work wonderfully! Did you happen to make a copy of all the files before you sent it?

Sorry for making you search so hard for my shirt, but thank you SO much for sending it!! it`ll be wonderful to play soccer in :)

My favorite hymn would probably be....Come, come ye saints (but obviously in Spanish haha)

Lots of love,
- Elder Daylon Crider

More Sewing Dilemmas

MOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! Can you add some black thread to the package?? Walmart always seems to be out and none of the members have black, or any other dark color :P These stupid bikes keep ripping my pants and I´ve had to restitch them who knows how many times in the past few months, so naturally I´m out of thread haha

Yes, that photo is exactly why I´m not looking forward to changes in two weeks :P (from Mom: I told him those buses don't seem very roomy from the pic he sent)

...........and yes, there was a new photo for me in Google Drive.....Alyza Bea Crider! Why you gotta be a crazy nakedey baby!?!?! Hahahahaha (from Mom: One day the house was too quiet, so I went to check on Alyza and found her naked in the bathroom sink, "taking a bath". Of course I had to take a pic of her to send to Daylon)

The family that we contacted about two weeks ago...well, I have no idea what their last name is, because here everyone has two last names, and there´s about 3 different families living there, so there last name is something like.. Espinoza Rojas Santander Riquelme Pino Perez Cancino Cerda Ortiz (or something like that haha)

So, to add to the list of cool people I know, we met Luis the other day (a less-active member) and he drives a Micro (which is the "bus" of Chile´s public transportation system) and he doesn´t charge us! (Granted, it´s about 80 cents, but hey, for a missionary that´s a lot!)

So, what I got last week:
Packages --> Nanci, Grandpa, Kristin, Gigi = birthday package x2 (Your letter said you sent 4, and so far I´ve received 3)

Letters --> Tricia (sent: 19 Sept)
Crider (5 Oct)
Jenny (12 Oct)
Joyze Curtis (7 Oct)

Not this week but next Elder Holland is going to speak to us!!!! He and Elder Cristofferson are here in Chile all next week, and our MP just got back from meetings for almost 2 weeks with them in the Area office. ¡Ojalá que no nos da muchos palos!

Con amor,
- Elder Daylon Crider

A Tale of Three Foreigners

Sooo....this week. We had divisions this week (that´s when our District Leader and us switch comps for a day so he can see how we work and get to know our investigators. Both companions have to spend a day with him.) and usually in divisions ALL the appointments fall through and we end up doing contacts for 4-5 hours before we find a member to visit. BUT!! When my DL was with E´ Riera on Friday, they went to an investigator´s house to teach the first lesson, and the rest of his siblings wanted to join in and want to continue participating in our discussions!! A whole family has ¡¡cualquier ganas a escucharnos ahora!! (the desire to listen now). Sorry...I speak Spanish when I get excited haha

Also, when I (a gringo) was with my DL (who is from Mexico), we were doing contacts and met......a German! Of all the places for these three countries to meet, who´d have thought it would be in a tucked-away house in the vineyards of Chile! Haha. Those are the moments that qualify as a journal entry :)

So, there´s a good collection of new photos and videos this week :)

And a few more random things:

Elder Holland is going to be here to speak to us on Novemeber 13th, so I´ve been reading his last few Conference talks to prep. Here´s a few quotes I found: "Don´t assume you can fix everything, but fix what you can"; "Though we may feel like we are ´like a broken vessel´...we must remember, that vessel is in the hands of the divine potter"; "If thou canst do anything...If thou canst believe" (belief = faith = action, Am I doing everything possible to better my situation?)

Saturday night I was making a sign for English Class, (from Mom: who knew he taught English classes?!) and I asked my comp to make sure I spelled everything right. He asked how I knew so well when and where to use accent marks. So I gave my Latin comp a Spanish lesson :) Hahaha, that was seriously the funniest thing ever!!

Aaaand, can I get a copy of the no-bake cookies recepie? :D

I think that´s about all for this week.... :)

Lots of love,
- Elder Daylon Crider

I hate public transport - no leg room :(

It reminds me of someone (smart boy, now all the women in his life think it's them!)

Gigi to the Rescue

NOTE from Mom:  This week I had to tell Daylon that his wonderful great-grandma, Gigi, who he was close to, had passed away. I told him that if he noticed the work had been going better the last few days, it would be because she had arrived in the mission field to assist him. He replied:

As a matter of fact, every person we contacted this week is now investigating the Church! And now we all know why :´)

Last week was a good week for mail :) I got a package from Ciny, Sean, and family, another package from Tricia (she´ll be glad to know that finally came :) ), and letters from the following wonderful people: Cris/Fred family, Jenny (18 Sept and 18 July) and from Sis Larsen (who mentioned how the Elders didn´t like her cooking...haha)

Funny story about maaaaaiiiilllll tiiiiiiiiiime (sorry, Blues Clues moments...). Whenever my DL opens the package of letters, there´s usually about 5 or 6. At least 3 or 4 are always mine :) And whenever there´s a few packages, I can usually count on my awesome family to have sent something :) All the junk food you send really helps me spend my money on healthier food because I already have the good stuff from you hahaha

Also, a suggestion for all. Here, salads are really different and, at first, I didn´t like it, but now I plan on only eating Chilean salads after the mission. It´s pretty simple: Lettuce, oil, salt, and lemon juice. I have no idea what the proportions are, but you can have fun experimenting :)

WHAT?? Dad missed one of Trevin´s games??? Yeah. Definitely praying hard for him now!! (from Mom: he was sick. Reeaaally sick... he doesn't miss those games without a major reason!)

As missionaries we probably won´t get the Conference Ensign until the end of Novermber/December :P And seeing as we don´t really spend time with the members, I haven´t heard any phrases going around. But that was definitely one of my favorites :) (from Mom: I told Daylon the quote from conference that is really getting popular here is "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith."

(from Mom: this is regarding the new temple video) I´ve heard there´s a new video, but as of September it wasn´t in Santiago. I heard they´re sending it with the new Temple Presidents, but I don´t know how credible that info is...I seriously miss going to the Temple!!

Lots of love,
- Elder Daylon Crider
Awesome letter-sending girlfriend!!!

So pretty here

Really Missing Those Bean Burritos!

I figured about this time dad would be talking about me coming home as if it were this January. But we´re only coming up on the halfway point, o sea, we´re ALREADY coming up on the halfway point!

Trevin´s ability to talk to people and get himself invited to prostigeous events is something that will definitely help him later in life!

So, I know I said no one is getting presents from me this year, but there might be a family present coming, just depends on the timing of everything :)

Mom - I definitely could smell your Orange whateveryoucallthem Cinnamon Rolls (orange Danish rolls) Sunday morning when I woke up, and the taste was tempting me all through the first session!

Dad - After the Priesthood Session, even though it was 11pm, I was ready to go get my bean and cheese burrito, enchilada style, with a side of rice and beans, red sauce. Oh! Another thing, there is an Empanada shop here with 48 different types, and when I walk in, the lady is already writing my order because I get the same thing every time. When she first did that I was thinking, "Haha, now I´m just like grandpa!" (from Mom: This is the second week in a row he's mentioned those burritos. He must really miss it!)

Conference

Surprise! Today Pres. announced that he doesn´t actually have the authority to change our Pday :P So we get a super short one every 6 weeks :P From now on, all the missionaries are going to be in the changes meeting, which is fun :)

Mail I got last week: a letter sent from Mom and Allie stamped 8/31

About the photos....1) We were in the house of our Branch President, 2) The festival we were at was a celebration of the 18 de Septiembre (the Chilean 4th of July), 3) It was an activity that all the branches went to and we had permission to go all day. It went from about 10am to 5pm, and 4) I watched Conference in the Stake Center, because that`s the tradition here (plus very few people can afford the package that includes the BYU Channel)

There`s more pictures :)
"Despediada_C." is the last photo of Hna C. She got transfered to the city for her health.

"Twins" is us Elders with two members who look somewhat similar

"The_New_Elders" is the Sisters with our "twins"
(P.S. from Mom - it looks like a pretty nice building they meet in)

Conference always makes me trunky and the Priesthood session always makes me want a "bean and cheese burrito, enchilada style, with a side of rice and beans. Red sauce." I miss Mexican food!!!!!

MOM!!! If you could find my thumbdrives and send me the biggest one there is AFTER making a backup of it on my 1TB Hard Drive in a file named "SENT TO DAYLON" that would help a lot :) I tend to work with the branch secretary a lot and when I have transfers I would like to take these documents with me just in case. And I have a lot of photos and music and mormon messages and 4GB just isn´t cutting it :P

The rest of this has to be short, sorry.

We were waiting in line the other day at a government building that recently ended their strike. They were on strike for 19 days because of bad software......oh how I had the stupid people who don`t test their software first!!

Also, we were just walking down the street and a store was playing a Coldplay song. It was timed perfectly to play the part "missionaries in a foreign field" right as we walked in front of the store hahahahaha

After Pres. Monson´s talk in Conference, PLEASE let Bro. Wanlass know how greatful I am to have had an awesome Home Teaching companion. Thank you!!

That is all,

Sharing Stories

In last week`s mailbag, I didn`t get anything from home, but we`ll see what happens tomorrow :) I`ll be sure to let you know everything that comes in and when I got it :)

Last week I sent Alyza`s bday package home, fyi :)

About Christmas: We have changes the Monday after this conference (a.k.a. next Monday!) and the 30th of December, but I forgot that we also have changes the 18th of November. There`s a 90% chance I have changes the 18th, so it will be ok to send packages, but, like I said before, PLEASE DO NOT send anything except letters until I let you know. I know it`ll be hard to do, but it`ll be harder to move with extra packages when I already have more stuff to pack (although I have NO idea from where...)  (From Mom: Of course, that means our packages will NOT get there in time if we wait until Nov 18th ;(  I swear, the sacrifices I make.)

Next. I can officially say I have met a candlestick maker! Hno. Juan Balague in our Branch is a candlestick maker!! How cool is that!?!? Maybe I`ll send some home for Christmas if he`ll let me buy some :)

The story behind the lunch photos (see below): during the week we passed by their house (that`s our Branch President in the photo with my comp, btw) during the week and his wife mentioned something about how her daughter is always eating "plastic soup" (a.k.a. not homemade) and my comp and I both said we like them too. So, this month on Sundays we had lunch with them and she always makes a soup for the appatizer, but this time she put out those. It was awesome :D

So, if you remember, I sent a video home about me making "banana bread" (it`s really more of a banana cake, but still) and now everyone wants the recipie and they want me to make it for everything!! Hahaha

There`s new photos, btw :) (see below)

(Rough Translation: That's all. Not much happens here. Conference will be super awesome and I'm super encouraged to speak English for two days next lol hopefully everyone can hear each session. Dad, just this week and two more lectures and then we can all go to eat after the Priesthood session. Just so you know, here Priesthood starts at 9 in the evening and ends at 11.That fome (?) ).

p.s. Next week, Pday is Wednesday, so don`t flip when nothing comes on Monday or Tuesday :)
